Who we are
Exby2 is an expense tracker and bill splitter published on Google Play by the developer named on its store page ("we"). The app works without an account and never connects to the internet itself. We do not run servers for it, and we do not receive, sell or share any information about you.
What the app stores, and where
Everything below is kept in the app's private storage on your phone. Other apps cannot read it, and Android's backup to the cloud and device-to-device transfer are switched off for Exby2.

When data leaves your phone
Only when you start it, and only to the place you choose:
- Invites, Excel and PDF. When you tap Send invite, Copy, Excel or PDF, that one group's data goes to the app or person you pick. An invite holds the group's key, so share it only with people in the group.
- Sync without internet. Group members can sync phone to phone by a file sent with Quick Share, Bluetooth or a chat app, by QR codes shown on one screen and scanned by the other, or directly over the same Wi-Fi or hotspot while Exby2 is open on both phones. Everything sent this way is locked with the group's own key (AES-256-GCM), so only phones that joined the group can read it or change it. Wi-Fi sync talks only to phones on the same local network, never to the internet, and you can switch it off for any group.
- Backups. When you tap Make a backup, everything on the phone (groups, goals and receipt photos) is put in one file locked with a password you choose (AES-256-GCM, key from PBKDF2 with 600,000 rounds). You decide where it goes: your files, Google Drive, another app or another phone. We never receive it and can't open it. The app lock is never part of a backup.
- Printing. A PDF statement is handed to Android's print screen, which can save it or send it to a printer you choose.
The app contains no advertising, analytics, crash reporting or tracking code, and does not use advertising IDs or your location.
Exby2 Plus purchases
Splitting with your groups is free. Exby2 Plus, a subscription with a free trial or a one-time lifetime purchase, adds more features. It is sold only through Google Play:
- Google Play handles the purchase. Your payment details, billing address and receipts are handled by Google under the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Play terms. We never see your card, UPI ID or bank details.
- What the app sees. The app uses Google Play's billing library to ask the Play Store app on your phone for the prices, whether you can have a free trial, and whether your Google account owns Plus. The answer stays on your phone; the app sends nothing about it to us or anyone else. Google tells us, as the seller, about sales and subscriptions through the Play Console, as it does for every app on Google Play.
- Cancelling. You can cancel a subscription any time in Google Play, under Payments and subscriptions. When Plus ends, nothing is deleted; the Plus features simply lock again.
Permissions

The app never reads your contacts, SMS inbox, location or microphone, and it reads notifications only as described above.
Security
- All data stays inside the app's private storage, protected by Android's device encryption.
- The optional app lock asks for a PIN or fingerprint. The PIN is protected with PBKDF2 (150,000 rounds) and is never stored as typed.
- You can hide the app's contents in the recent-apps screen and block screenshots.
- Captured payments are accepted only with a private key shown inside the app.
- Each group has its own random key. Files, QR codes and Wi-Fi messages for a group are encrypted and signed with it, so anyone outside the group can neither read them nor slip in changes. After removing someone, you can make a new key so their copy stops syncing.
- Android backup and phone-to-phone transfer are switched off for the app's data.
Your choices and deletion
- Delete any entry, group or goal inside the app at any time.
- You → Erase everything on this phone removes all groups, goals, photos and settings.
- Uninstalling the app deletes all of its data from your phone.
- Groups you shared stay on the phones of the people in them, under their control.
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to export or delete on request.
Children
Exby2 is meant for adults managing household, trip and shared costs. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever starts handling data differently, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the effective date above will change.
